Week 15 Power Rankings
This was one of the easier power rankings to write. The only movement really occurs down in the 6-11 standings. What you're sure to be gathering in these weekly power rankings is that the top three seeds look pretty locked and are rolling.
1. Dark Horse - Pretty standard beat down of this year's version of SirChunksAlot. It's kinda sad to see a former champion relegated to not updating his team and putting his spot in the league for the next season in jeopardy as a consequence, but then again -with his place in the standings, who wouldn't mail it in? Oh, right - I didn't.
2. Dream Team - Team Canada's team is no slouch, so while the victory isn't big, it's impressive nonetheless. This is also a potential team DT could be facing in the playoffs where the stakes are higher and where Team Canada, a playoff veteran and one-time runner-up, could cause some problems. It'll be interesting to see if this regular season meeting was foreshadowing of anything to come in the playoffs.
3. Merlness - Where's Leon really didn't have much a chance against this league power house. Merlness didn't have to break a sweat dealing with this team.
4. Big Country - This team looked headed for the lottery a few weeks into the season, but since week 8 has gone on a tear and only lost once. I'm sure he's disappointed he couldn't squeeze those final two ties into points, but a win is a win - especially against someone who is vying for the same couple of playoff spots.
5. Team Canada - Kudos to Team Canada for staying close and giving himself a chance against a league all-star. With continued heady performances like this, there's no reason Team Canada can't join the ranks of the big 3 and make it a big 4.
6. Cocaine Convict - Hope was growing dim for Cocaine Convict, but he somehow manages to give Pippen Ain't Easy, who up to that point had been on an incredible roll, a beat down of playoff-shifting proportions. It is his first win in five weeks, so the question is - can he keep it up? Especially against Big Sexy or the artist formerly known has [blahblahblah]bulls - who seems motivated to return into relevancy.
7. Pohn Wall - Tough loss for Pohn, who is among those searching for each and every point available to make a playoff push. A strange loss given that he had, had an impressive victory over Team Canada two weeks earlier and another big win against Leon.
8. Cliphairs - This is probably a false-low for Cliphairs, he was one assist and one steal from 4 points. Still - only getting two points puts his team on the Cape of Hope and unfortunately the Great Whites are migrating and wanting to take his place.
9. Pippen Ain't Easy - tough loss to a team with a penchant for losing. This effectively brought PAE out of the playoffs and into the arena to fight for the last spot. Fortunately his schedule is cake this week. He should rebound nicely.
10. Gone Fishin' - Impressive victory against a team fighting hard to get into the playoffs. There may be a spark of life yet in this team. Nothing a trade and some nice waiver pickups couldn't give hope to.
11. Big Sexy - Revenge is a dish best served in a proportional response. 8-0 meets 1-8. That's mercy not shown in week 1.
12. Where's Leon - I gotta applaud Leon for at least updating his team in spite of being at the bottom.
13. DNP-Coach's Decision - Taking applications for a replacement for 2011-2012 Shirts Against Blouses.

Aside from the grating-on-the-nerves Ron Artest song, this was some entertaining and fun stuff. Poor Big Sexy or [blahblahblah]bulls. True, he's a 12th place team at this point but... that was one steep fall. Ouch.
ReplyDeleteI think we need a new poll question
ReplyDeleteThanks Dimes. New poll up, Josh.
ReplyDeleteagree with comments on dnp, he is solely contributing to pip's current 8-1 lead this week and keeping him in the mix while we are battling for every single point. i vote we bring in bchai next year, he will definitely stay updating no matter the record.
ReplyDeleteUm, unfortunately old bchai has a record in this league. And it isn't a good one. In 2008 didn't he play as Sars and end up tanking the last 6 weeks? DNP is a former champion, so I'd hate to cut a former champ, but this is way too early in the season to not be updating. Of course, everyone's schedule can get crazy etc. But this is definitely not cool for those of us fighting for those last few spots. I've sent reminder emails etc, just to try to be judicious, but nothing seems to be working. Will BChai keep up if there's no money on the line?
