Week 13 Power Rankings

Ah, unlucky 13. What unfortunate pratfalls did our illustrious list of teams fall into this time?  We start with Dark Horse who solidifies his first place ranking with his win against then-playoff contender Cocaine Convict.  The match went something like this:

#1. Dark Horse - I'm sure he's keeping the name for continuity's sake, but this horse is far from being dark.  In fact it's been reveling in the spotlight for quite some time.  I'm not about to call him Man O' War just yet (we'll let the playoffs decide that).  This smackdown was verging on historic if not for a few key add/drops that managed to salvage CC 1 point.  Urban Dictionary says the definition of 'pwned' is: "to own" or to be dominated by an opponent or situation, especially by some god-like or computer-like force. I'd say that's about what happened last week.

#2. Dream Team - Sure he had a big win, but against a bottom feeder just doesn't come near on the 'hold-me-back meter.'

So how is this team doing it? Well, a lot of add-drop and a favorable schedule have much to do with it.  Not to mention the mid-season trade with Pohn Wall for Joe Johnson seem to be panning out.  On a different note I do have to take umbrage with Dream Team stealing my videos idea on the last power rankings.  That kind of thievery will not get you in good graces with this committee.

#3. Big Country - Listen I'm going to have to eat crow on this one.  I didn't see it coming.  I figured his schedule would decimate the pseudo-meteoric rise to the top, but after giving Merlness a shellacking last year's champion is looking primed and eager to defend his title.  Just pretend that Merlness' name is actually Devante and just pretend that this was his story:

4. Merlness - We pick up the story here, out of the top 3 and in recovery.  What's happened to this guy? One day he's looking like a champ, the next day he's looking like a chump.  I thought, maybe he's banged up.  I head over to his page and not a single red cross by the names.  The problem is that Merlness was riding an incredible hot streak by Felton, Williams, and Westbrook.  All of them have cooled off. Some more than others.  Either way, he's just not putting up the numbers he was.  This week is critical since he is playing Team Canada for position at the top.

5.  Pippen Ain't Easy - Pippen Ain't Easy just can't seem to make up his mind whether he's going to be great or sub-par.  He's consistently the most inconsistent player on the team.  But perhaps flying under the radar is what this team needs to succeed he thrashed Cliphairs who, up till then, had been doing fine.  This week, against Dark Horse will be a real test.

6.Team Canada - Until last week, Team Canada had rattled off an impressive five wins in a row.  Unfortunately he went up against a surging Pohn Wall coupled with the fact that Rando has been coming back from injury.  So what's the explanation for this mid season surge?

Enough said.

7.  Pohn Wall - big win against against TC keeps Pohn's playoff aspirations alive. Fortunately he gets a couple of duds before he must reloop and starts playing the cream again. The early season Joe Johnson trade looks like a bad idea in retrospect, but Wesley is still playing good (in part thanks to Roy's surgery). Pohn is now surrounded by a few teams all vying for that 6th spot.

8. Cliphairs is dropping and fast.  If they don't pick it up, they'll be left behind a cloud of brawling teams for the last playoff spot.  They did themselves no favors by losing 2-7 last week to Pippen Ain't Easy who jumped them in the rankings and took the last playoff spot.

9. Repeatabull - another team running through the streets trying to find their way to the elusive last spot in the playoffs.  Only a few games separate the 6th through 12th teams.

10. Cocaine Convict - Ouch? The good news is that you aren't out of it... yet.

11. Where's Leon? - We put out an APB for the guy who was looking for the guy who was missing.

12. Gone Fishin' -

13.  DNP Coach's Decision -
